Dry garden in Egypt

The garden is the very first place trodden by students and professors of the French university in Cairo. It is a strong sign of French hospitality. Inspired by desert landscapes, the garden of the French University of Egypt is designed as a refuge in an arid environment.

Shaped by the movement of the Nile, the desert has been gradually sculpted. Water has left its mark on the landscapes of the region. Over time, oases have appeared along the wadis, creating countless paths for the circulation of water; vegetation has been able to establish itself over time. The concept of this oasis-garden highlights the impact of water on the landscape and its ability to give birth to a nature rich in biodiversity. Local and drought-resistant plants were used for this purpose.
