Simonson Landscape & Associates

American landscape architect trained in the United States and France, David Simonson founded his agency in Paris (10th), working for individuals and professionals in the private and public sectors. His creations express a desire to change the way we live, look at and draw the landscape in the face of climate change using innovative and ecological materials and construction methods.

In 2022, botanist gardener Thibault Rouet teamed up with Simonson Landscape to create tailor-made parks and gardens in France and abroad. Their skills and common passion for gardens allow them to offer an exceptional service and to accompany their customers from the design to the delivery of projects.

Passionate about design, plants and art, we think of landscape and garden as a living sculpture, always unique, triggering emotions. The aim is to create comfortable spaces on a site-wide basis, imbued with the customer’s personality and the context of the project. The character of the existing site, the history of the landscape and the architecture are key elements in the creation of a garden that expresses the meaning and spirit of the place. We create living spaces connected by materials, fauna, flora and landscape.

    Landscape architect

    American landscape architect graduated in the United States (California Polytechnic State University) in 2008, he moved to France the following year. With his hands in the ground, he learns to speak French while gardening for prestigious parks around Paris. After studying at the École nationale supérieure de paysage (ENSP) in Versailles (78), he founded Simonson Landscape in Paris in 2015. The prizes won at the Chaumont-sur-Loire and the Côte d'Azur Festival competitions enabled him to collaborate with many landscapers and architects; he designed parks and gardens for France, China, Brazil, the United States, Switzerland, Greece, Morocco, Egypt, Russia and Portugal. In 2021, David is artist in residence at the Centre des arts numériques d'Enghien-les-Bains (95) in collaboration with singer Alexandra Grimal. In 2022, David Simonson was the winner of the Gardens of Peace competition, run by the Art & Gardens association. He is now a member of the jury of the Fête des plantes de Saint-Jean-Beauregard (91) and a professor at the ENSP de Versailles.

    Botanical expertise

    Thibault is above all a landscaper passionate about botany. He began designing and creating gardens on his native island (Oléron Island) at the age of 16. After graduating, he moved to Paris where he specialized in the construction of vegetated roofs and courtyard gardens in urban areas. His botanical knowledge earned him second place in the 2013 National Vegetation Recognition Competition. As an expert in botany, he teaches at the École du Breuil (75). He is also a member of the jury at the Fête des plantes in Saint-Jean-Beauregard (91) since 2016.
